Chelsea Wright & Zach Powell

Couple #5 Is Chelsea Wright & Zach Powell!

A little bit about each of them, in their own words!

Chelsea & Zach started dating December 17, 2005 when she was 16 and he was 17! They've never had any breakups, "because they're madly in love, duh! :)"

"No babies, whoo hoo! :)"

Their Love Story!

“The Moment his eyes met mine”
One thing to remember - there are no rules on life or in love. It is important to enjoy the moment and make life (love) as awesome as it can be!
So, the moment his eyes met mine, wasn’t exactly fireworks. We we’re in the halls of North Caroline High, talking to our friends before the first class began. I can’t exactly recall what was said by me (Chelsea). All I remember is Zach turning to me and the first thing he EVER says to me was, “Damn, what’s your number?”. Um, not exactly my fairytail! Yeah, I was not impressed. But, he did make me laugh and still manages to do that to this day.
Fastforward… The first time me and Zach hung out. I still didn’t have my drivers license and Zach had a truck. An older boy with his license AND a ford pickup? I was hooked! Some may disagree, but I am a Ford girl, so you can imagine how excited I was! Of course, I told him to pick me up at my house. It was him and one of his guy friends, Josh. We were just going out riding. Well, my daddy asks “Who is this boy picking you up?”. I told him not to worry, he was just a friend and he drove a Ford so it was ok. (My father is clearly a Ford man).
When I first met Zach I did not intend on making him my boyfriend. He was just a sweet guy, who I considered a friend. Zach would not give up on me though. He was so sure I was going to be his girlfriend. He kept trying, asking me on dates or just walking me to class in school. So, I finally told him I would go on a date with him!
Our first date, we went to the movies and dinner in Dover, Delaware. I can’t remember the movie but Applebee’s was where we went to eat. To this day Applebee’s is one of our favorite places! It was a great time and I was starting to warm up to this guy. So, I decided right up front if he was going to like me, he would have to know my flaws! (I didn’t waste any time showing him these flaws either) If anyone knows me personally, they know I have really stinky farts (God, this is SO unlady-like, but its part of the story right?). Lets just say, Zach found out how stinky things could get with me around! Oh and I was not shy about it! But, he is still with me. They can’t be that bad right? ;)
After Zach got over the shock of me being so, “crazy”... Maybe that’s the word for me? He decided he could deal with certain things and still wanted me to be his girlfriend. He eventually asked me out. The date was December 17th, 2005. I said yes! But, later that night I changed my mind. I wasn’t ready for us to be “official”. So I broke it off with him. This is where things get complicated. But, this is me telling the story so im telling my side! That night, Zach called me just to talk and I actually asked him back out! I know, confusing girl right? He should have ran while he had the chance. But, he willingly said yes. So technically, we are together cause I asked him out! But, Zach would tell you it was the next day when I asked him out, December 18th, 2005. But since I always win, our anniversary is the 17th!
Next thing, “The first kiss”. I worked in the office at my grandparents shop after school everyday. Sometimes Zach would come visit me there. I walked outside to tell Zach goodbye. I was actually standing on one of those stumps where you park your car in front of. I don’t know what their called. Anyway, im not sure who leaned in first, but there it was, our first kiss. Simple, yet sweet!
Our first, “I love you’s”. We were driving to my dad’s house in greensboro. My friend Sara was with us, so I was sitting in the middle and Zach was driving. I don’t really know what came over me, but I just wispered “I love you”. Zach smiled at me with a kind of shocked but happy look on his face and replied, “I love you too”! We have said “I love you” every single day since. More then once a day, usually.
So every moment his eyes meet mine there are (as I would describe it) “fireworks”. Our story just goes to show, love is not always at first sight. And it doesn’t need to be! It’s not realistic to love someone the first time you look at them. Its after time, and getting to know one another when love just happens. Somewhere in between that first date to the first kiss, I believe I fell head over heals. And for 5 years now, I fall more in love and I appreciate Zach more with every kiss, or every “I love you”. They mean so much more now that I’ve been with him for all this time. Its kind of cheesy, but I feel like I’ve found “the one”. All I know is I have feelings for Zach that I’ve never felt in any other relationship or felt about any other person. He is my best friend.
I am a firm believer that a partner / boyfriend / fiance / husband / true love or whatever you want to call him, is your best friend with benefits! Seriously, if we can make each other smile and laugh like a best friend, but have intimate moments of passion and fire…we have it all :)

What Makes you Unique?

Unique, is the right word for me and Zachary. There are not many people who can say they have stayed together, HAPPY, with their high school sweetheart for years. No, Zach was not my first love. Nor, was I his. But that makes us who we are today, and we have learned from past relationships how NOT to treat each
other.

*One very unique / weird fact – After me and Zach met in high school, we found out his father and my grandmother worked together at edgehill/rite aid for YEARS! Ever since me and Zach were little kids. Probably the ages of 4 and 5! As many times that I would go to my mommoms work or Zach would go help his daddy while he worked, we never met! I believe God has a plan for us all and he only knows what might have happened if we met at such a young age.
*I’d have to say, me and Zach are uniquie in the fact that we only get to spend time together on weekends. Zach works night shift and I work days. So Monday – Thursday we don’t get to see each other or even hear each others voice. Thank god for text messaging!

There are so many ways our relationship is unique, everyone has a story that is unique in its own.

Why Do YOU deserve to win?

I believe our story deserves a reward :) It is unique. We’re a very down to earth couple and easy to get along with. People will relate to us! Or atleast, appreciate our crazy love story.
